There is an old cast iron gate across the street from our house in New Orleans, and in the center is a cast iron design that we often see around New Orleans on many different gates. These lovely cast iron gates were made in the 19th century and you see them often as you walk around the city. At the center of many of these gates you see a tiny 'Palmette'-- or ancient palm icon with its roots in the Palmettes of Greece and Egypt-- inside of a heart shape.
We created this original design, our "Heart of Palm" in celebration of the these beautiful gates, that lead into the homes of New Orleans.
