The design of our Gothic Quatrefoil Fleur de Lis pendant was inspired by a beautiful fleur de lis design we found on one of our Gothic Revival buildings on St Charles Avenue in Downtown New Orleans. In fact its on the exterior of a restored building that now houses the Hilton Hotel.   The Quatrefoil shape (literally 'four leaves') is said to represent four over lapping petals or leaves-- and first appears on Gothic cathedrals in Europe during the Middle Ages.  During the early 20th century, throughout  the United States, we had a period of 'Gothic Revival' when many architects chose to reuse this ancient design, as a decorative motive in their building designs.  We think the petal shape of the  fleur de lis mirrors itself in the shape of the Quatrefoil in quite a unique way.   This elegant and beautiful fleur de lys jewelry celebrates the design history of New Orleans
