Our Natchitoches fleur de lis brooch, in sterling silver, celebrates the heritage of the Louisiana town of Natchitoches. Founded in 1714-- four years before New Orleans-- it is the oldest permanently inhabited town in the territory of the Louisiana Purchase. It is named after the tribe of Native Americans who lived in the area-- the Natchitoches Indians--prior to the arrival of the French colonists.
While on a road trip to Natchitoches we fell in love with the history and heritage of the area, and saw a number of fleur de lis designs-- and were impressed by the fact that the city was founded in 1714. Inspired by this heritage we created our Natchitoches fleur de lis brooch-- we carved the original master in wax and then cast the pieces in silver using the lost wax method.
This beautiful, and unique, piece of fleur de lis jewelry is carved out on the back, not flat, and has a solid pin clasp. All in Sterling Silver. Its a wonderful adornment for a jacket, but not suitable for a light blouse.
Size: 2.12 x 1.78 inches
